Completing the Educator Portfolio within the Advance CV...

Advance enables you to capture details of your educational activities in an Educator Portfolio “document” embedded within the CV. Most users of the CV will NOT complete the Educator Portfolio; however, when your primary creative endeavor is teaching – as opposed to, or in conjunction with research or clinical endeavors – you will benefit from using the Educator Portfolio as a means to document your scholarly activities in teaching and education. Scholarship or scholarly work in education is the primary focus of the Educator Portfolio.

If you have questions about using the Educator Portfolio, consider the following:

  1. Read frequently asked questions (FAQs) on the Educator Portfolio
  2. Discuss with a mentor/chair/campus EP coach to help decide whether to use this EP view or not; email EducatorPortfolio@ucsf.edu to begin the EP coaching process
  3. Review the examples of the Educator Portfolio

Completing the Educator Portfolio
The Educator Portfolio consists of an Educator Overview (an executive summary) and up to five detailed Educational Role descriptions. Most educators who opt to complete the Educator Portfolio will complete the Educator Overview and 1-3 detailed Educational Role descriptions.
