Reverse Mentoring: Stories of Managing Up in a Mentoring Relationship
Tuesday, January 20, 3:30–5:00 pm, Parnassus, Lange Room, Kalmanovitz Library
Successful mentoring requires active engagement from both the mentor and mentee. Mentees in particular must learn how to ‘manage up’ — to take initiative of and direct the mentoring relationship, letting the mentor know what he or she needs. Reverse mentoring acknowledges that mentors need to be actively engaged by their mentees to provide even more effective mentoring. This session features three mentor/mentee pairs who will discuss their own challenges and tips for how to integrate ‘reverse mentoring’ into a successful mentoring partnership. Mentors and mentees will leave with specific and actionable solutions to a wide variety of mentoring challenges.
