Get insider tips about advancement and promotion! As Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and former Interim Chair of Psychiatry, Dr. Renee Binder will unravel fact from fiction about career advancement, the promotion process and the road to success in academia. Time will be available for discussion. Registrants may submit their questions beforehand when they register online (though drop-ins are welcome). Bring your lunch and Dr. Binder will share her expertise.
Mentoring Across Differences: A Workshop for Mentors and Mentees

This workshop will focus on faculty diversity at UCSF and the impact of implicit bias on mentoring relationships. It provides tools and strategies, including specific case scenarios to train mentors and mentees how to deal more effectively with individual differences and to understand the impact of factors such as gender, culture, race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation.
Changing the Conversation: The Art of Giving and Receiving Peer Feedback

Learn how to mentor your peers on their teaching: Improve your observation, evaluation and feedback skills through the use of materials and techniques specifically developed for training mentors in a variety of teaching modalities. Includes video demonstration, group discussion, and real-time practice in giving feedback.
Speed Mentoring for Postdocs

The Postdoc Office, Graduate Division, Graduate Division Alumni Association, and the Postdoctoral Scholars' Association
A fun, fast-paced event in which postdocs will have several ten-minute, one-on-one mentoring sessions with a variety of expert mentors, who will share invaluable career advice. This year's event will focus on postdocs who are considering working in a start-up or entrepreneurial work environment. Registration required.
