Faculty Mentoring Program

Who Mentored You?

Michael Winter, PharmD

I first came into contact with Mike Winter, PharmD when he gave two clinical correlate lectures in a pharmacokinetics course. His enthusiasm and insight inspired me, and I decided that I was interested in a career in clinical pharmacokinetics. I made an appointment to meet with him, I took his electives, worked on a project with him and the rest is history: after my residency, I completed a fellowship in clinical pharmacokinetics, and worked in the Clinical Pharmacokinetics Consultation Service at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center since. Ten years ago, a faculty position became available to be the Program Director of the Los Angeles/Orange County Clerkship program, and I was blessed enough to be offered the position. Mike then became a mentor in this new capacity, guiding and coaching me to learn the policies and procedures and dealing with students; and my clinical practice is still in the Clinical Pharmacokinetics Service at LBMMC. What a pleasure it has been to work with him in this new capacity. Don't retire, Mike!!
