Faculty Mentoring Program

Who Mentored You?

Lowell Tong, MD

Lowell Tong has been a mentor to me in fostering my interest in becoming a medical educator. He has seen me from the earliest days of my residency, through a research fellowship, additional graduate training, and now (finally) as I have begun my faculty career. As with any great mentor, his singular goal has been to help me achieve my own desires and passions, rather than his. And since we have worked together for several years, he has modified his guidance and advice according to my stage of development, which has naturally helped me advance through the process. Finally, he treats me as an equal, rather than the significantly junior colleague that I truly am. Thanks for being such an inspiration.
